Ways of Wandering, 2024
Photography and drawings on glass panels.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment.

In this installation, Antoinette Nausikaä uses translucent panels to create a new environment within the meeting room. The starting point was one of her photographs of a businessman sleeping in a park in the center of Tokyo.

Nausikaä uses cutouts and intertwines the photo of the sleeping man with images of zoomed-in, still objects she observed in the urban environment—objects that also embody a sense of stillness and rest.

The photos alternate with drawings, turning the work into a journey where you continuously discover something new—through shifting light, a different perspective, or a new thought. The work invites you to "wander," to look differently, and to see different worlds come together: the inner world and the outer world. A moment of pause amid the busyness of daily life.
