Clay earth ceramics,
series sculpture size +/- 10x10 cm

The series of 125 clay earth figurines derives from the earlyer project “Breathing Mountains (2018)”. When I came home after years of traveling around ancient sacred mountains worldwide searching for stillness and solitude, I created the clay sculptures from actual collected soil from the mountains. This was for me a way to give a physical expression to my experiences around these sacred places; Mount Olympus (GR), Mount Ararat (TR. AM, IR) and the Great Five Sacred Mountains of China; De Wuyûe. 

The structure and the color of the clay soil differs per area and creates a soft pallet of earthly colors in the work. Collecting and using actual clay soil from the locations is typical for my way of working.
